Clean Lines and Contemporary Design in Babylon, NY
This Babylon, NY swimming pool retreat balances clean, contemporary design with just enough energy and movement to keep it interesting. The homeowners wanted a simple, modern pool area with plenty of space for sitting, lounging and enjoying Long Island summers, and a design that would stay easy to maintain for years to come.
A Rectangular Pool with Natural Stone Coping
The rectangular pool is the centerpiece of the yard. Natural stone coping runs around the edge in a straight, crisp line, and the light, warm tone of the stone contrasts beautifully with the deep blue water.
A Natural Stone Pool Patio
The pool deck and patio are laid in large natural stone slabs that match the coping, giving the whole surface a seamless, high-end finish. On one side, the stone meets the lawn in a clean edge, keeping part of the yard open and green. On the other, a wide patio provides room for multiple lounge and seating areas.
Lounge and Seating Areas
The patio is laid out with several places to relax, from lounge chairs in the sun to a shaded umbrella area and an outdoor sofa setup facing the water. There is room for the whole family to spread out without the space ever feeling crowded.
Arborvitae Privacy Screen
A tall row of arborvitae wraps the back of the yard, creating a green wall of privacy that makes the backyard feel secluded. The simple landscape design lets the stone and water stand out while softening the edges of the property.
The Result
The finished pool area proves that simple design can make a big statement. With a limited palette of stone, water and greenery, the backyard feels calm and uncluttered, and the natural stone gives it a quality look that will age beautifully. It is an easy space to maintain and an even easier one to enjoy all summer long.
