A Waterfront Pool Patio Designed Around the View
When your backyard looks out over the water like this Massapequa, NY home does, the last thing you want is something blocking the view. The homeowners wanted to enjoy the water from every corner of the yard, so our designers kept the layout simple and open. The result is a gathering space that feels private and expansive at the same time.
Keeping Sightlines Open
Every vertical element was placed with the view in mind. The grill station and bar sit toward the back of the property, so nothing stands between the patio and the water. Even while swimming, the homeowners get a clear, unobstructed view. The low profile of the whole design lets the waterfront be the star.
A Pool with a Twin Waterfall Feature
The pool is framed by a paver deck with bluestone-style coping. A raised stone wall with a stepping pad along one side sends twin streams of water into the pool, adding movement and sound without adding height. It is a simple water feature that makes a big impact.
Fire Pit, Outdoor Bar and Grill Station
After a swim, the family can move to the entertaining areas. A stacked stone gas fire pit with a bluestone cap anchors a cozy seating area, and the outdoor kitchen features a stacked stone bar with seating tucked below the deck. The warm, multi-tone stone on both pieces pulls in the colors of the patio and the shoreline.
Unilock Beacon Hill Pavers Throughout
The patio and pool deck are built with Unilock Beacon Hill pavers, which give the space a relaxed but polished feel that suits the home’s coastal architecture. Low plantings along the edges soften the hardscape without blocking any views.
The Result
The homeowners now have a backyard that feels open and connected to the water from every seat. The pool, fire pit and bar each have their own space, yet nothing blocks the view, and the warm stone tones make the whole patio feel like a natural extension of the shoreline. It is expansive enough for a crowd and still cozy enough for a quiet evening, which is exactly the balance a waterfront property like this deserves.
