An Elegant Multi-Tiered Backyard Retreat on Long Island
This Long Island, NY home needed an outdoor living space that could host a crowd without feeling cluttered. Our designers combined minimalism with elegance, using the whole property for cooking, dining, lounging by the pool and relaxing around the fire. Softly toned Techo-Bloc concrete pavers run throughout, bringing flow and structure to the yard while balancing with its natural setting.
A Paver Walkway That Leads the Way
The experience starts with a paver walkway along the side of the house, lined with fresh landscaping. It curves into the backyard and up a set of steps to the raised patio, guiding family and guests naturally from one space to the next.
Curved Steps and a Raised Patio
A raised patio with wide, curved paver steps and a contrasting border sits just off the house. Stone pillars with lamp posts and planters frame the patio edge and mark the transitions between spaces. The raised level gives the homeowners a clear view over the entire yard.
Outdoor Kitchen and Dining
The expansive outdoor kitchen features a stone veneer bar with seating and plenty of counter space for preparing and serving summer meals. A long dining table sits alongside, so everyone can eat together outside with the pool in view.
A Freeform Pool and Fire Pit Lounge
Out past the patio, a freeform pool is surrounded by a sun-filled paver deck with room for a row of lounge chairs and umbrellas, and a low stone seat wall with pillars defines a separate fire pit lounge area. Vibrant landscaping and landscape lighting balance the design and keep the space usable well after dark.
The Result
The finished backyard works as a series of connected rooms. Guests can start at the kitchen, move to the dining table, head down to the pool and end the night by the fire, all without the space ever feeling cramped. The consistent Techo-Bloc pavers and stone pillars keep everything looking clean and coordinated, and the lighting means the party does not have to end when the sun goes down.
