Hamptons-Inspired Traditional Elegance in Northport, NY
This Northport, NY property was inspired by the classic landscape designs found in the Hamptons. The homeowners wanted a timeless look for both the pool area and the front entrance, with clean lines, natural materials and lush, layered plantings. Our team delivered a design that feels refined from the driveway to the back fence.
A Bluestone Pool Patio with Clean Lines
Keeping every angle straight, we laid 24×24 bluestone slabs in a linear pattern without borders around the pool. The simple, uninterrupted surface lets the bluestone speak for itself and suits the traditional architecture of the home. Deck jets were added along the pool for a fun, elegant touch.
Solving the Grade with Two Levels
The property had a grading challenge, which we solved by creating two levels with Cambridge wall stone in Onyx Natural. The dark tone of the retaining walls complements the bluestone, and bluestone steps connect the upper and lower areas of the yard.
Boxwoods, Hydrangeas and Arborvitae
We softened the hardscape with boxwoods and hydrangeas, and planted tall arborvitae around the pool for privacy. The result is a secluded, garden-like setting where the landscape design feels as important as the stonework.
A Gravel Courtyard and Natural Stone Front Steps
Out front, a gravel driveway and courtyard in true Hamptons fashion welcomes visitors. Curved natural stone front steps lined with round boxwoods climb the slope to the front porch, giving the home serious curb appeal and a grand, welcoming entrance.
The Result
The finished property has the timeless feel of a classic East End estate. The bluestone, dark wall stone and layered greenery create a quiet, elegant setting around the pool, while the front steps and gravel courtyard give guests a memorable first impression. By keeping the palette simple and the lines straight, the design will look just as good decades from now as it does today.
